How to Connect Your Google Calendar Account

UpTribo lets you connect your Google Calendar account so that your UpTribo calendar and Google Calendar are in sync.

Events created in your Google Calendar will automatically update your availability in UpTribo so that your clients can book only when you are available at all times.

Group events and 1:1 sessions created in UpTribo will also be reflected on your Google Calendar so that it remains up-to-date with the rest of your calendar.

Connecting your Google Calendar will also allow you to host any of your online 1:1 sessions or group events using a Google Meet link.

Once you create a 1:1 session or a group event on UpTribo, you can set the location as ‘Google Meet’, and a Google Meet link will automatically be generated for you.

The link will be accessible to your client only after a session is booked, or a participant registered to one of your group events.

Steps to connect your Google Calendar account

After you are logged in UpTribo, here is how you can provide Google Calendar access to UpTribo:

  1. Navigate to Account > Integrations

  2. You will see a box regarding Google Calendar and Google Meet. You can click on “Provide Access”.

  3. This will open a window where you can provide access to “UpTribo”.

  4. After this, you are redirected to UpTribo with a confirmation message that your account is successfully connected.

  5. Your Google Calendar events are also being imported to UpTribo so that it automatically updates your availability to your clients on the UpTribo platform.

Kindly note that only the start and end times of your existing Google Calendar events are imported to UpTribo for privacy reasons. This is the minimum needed to block time slots in your UpTribo calendar.

After the sync is successful and events are imported, from now on, new events you create or edit in your Google Calendar will automatically be synchronized with your UpTribo calendar.

Steps to automatically generate and attach a Google Meet link to a group event

Now that UpTribo is allowed to create Google Calendar events and generate Google Meet links on your behalf, here is how you can create a group event in UpTribo and use Google Meet as the location.

  1. Navigate to Product > Group Events.

  2. Click ‘Schedule Group Event’.

  3. A modal opens. Set a name and title (anything you want).

  4. On the next tab, “Date”, select a date and time for your group event.

  5. Next tab, “Location”, select Google Meet.

  6. You can directly click on the last tab, “Review & Publish”.

  7. Click “Publish Group Event”.

A Google Meet link is about to be automatically generated and attached to the group event (it usually takes only a second to a few seconds).

An UpTribo in-app notification will inform you that the link was successfully created and attached to the group event. You will also see a Google Meet icon in the link column of the created group event. Clicking on it will open Google Meet.

Updating the title, the time or location of the group event in UpTribo will automatically update these pieces of information in the related Google Calendar event.

Deleting or canceling a group event in UpTribo will automatically delete the related Google Calendar event from your Google account.

Note that none of the Google Calendar events you created yourself won’t be updated or deleted by UpTribo at anytime. UpTribo only updates or removes events that were automatically created by UpTribo (such as 1:1 sessions or group events).

Steps to disconnect your Google Calendar account

At any time, you can remove the access granted to UpTribo on your Google Calendar account.

  1. Navigate to Account > Integrations

  2. You will see a box regarding Google Calendar and Google Meet. You can click on “Revoke Access”.

  3. A loading will appear, and finally will turn into a message confirming that the access was revoked.

Once your Google Calendar account is disconnected, you won’t be able to select ‘Google Meet’ as the location of a 1:1 session or group event anymore. Kindly note that you can always reconnect your Google Calendar account by following the same steps as mentioned in the section ‘Steps to connect your Google Calendar account’.

Also note that revoking the access and reconnecting your Google Calendar account will remove any previously imported Google Calendar events into UpTribo before a new synchronization is performed.
